Tahini Bun

Ingredients for Tahini Pastry

For the dough:

  • 4 cups of flour

  • 1 cup of lukewarm milk

  • 1 packet of instant yeast

  • 1 teacup of vegetable oil

  • 2 tablespoons of powder sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the filling:

  • 1 cup tahini

  • 1 teacup powdered sugar sugar

For the topping:

  • 1 egg yolk

  • Optional sesame seeds or nigella seeds


1. Prepare the dough
Take the flour in a large bowl. Add yeast, sugar, salt, vegetable oil and warm milk and knead into a soft dough.

2. Let the dough rise.
Cover the dough and let it rise for approximately 40 minutes.

3. Roll out the dough.
Roll out the risen dough into a rectangular shape on a floured surface.

4. Spread the tahini mixture.
Spread the tahini on the rolled-out dough and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.

5. Shape into buns.
Roll the dough into a roll and slice it into your desired size, then arrange them on a baking tray.

6. Prepare the topping
Brush the buns with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

7. Bake in the oven
Bake in a preheated 180°C oven for approximately 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
